If you are old enough, you probably learned to type on a typewriter.

Now, in the digital age, there are times when you need to fill out a form that doesn't have form fields, or simply add a piece of text here or there to a document.

It's easy to scan in a document, and then type on top of it using Adobe Acrobat 9. The new version allows you to set font, size, color, etc., and is easier to use.
